As one customer expressed it when she first
saw her shutters installed:
"This is the most beautiful thing I have
seen in a long time."
-
Prescription Wood Conditioning:
Wood is
conditioned for the environment it is
going to be installed in.
Moisture changes cause instability in the wood so Norman
R&D scientists developed a Prescription Wood Conditioning process which
reduces
warping for the life of the product.
- Mortise-and-Tenon Joinery:
Norman Shutters use Mortise-and-Tenon joinery in all
the shutter
joints. Competitors use joints designed for lightweight applications
such as
dowels, biscuits, or even dovetail joints. Fine furniture
where the stability of joints are
paramount also uses
mortise-and-tenon joints.
- Quarter-Sawn Louvers:
Norman
Shutters is the only national manufacturer to use
100% quarter sawn
louvers. Quarter sawn louvers are more expensive so more rare and
quarter sawn wood is traditionally used in heirloom furniture.
- Shutters are hand sanded 5 times to
create a superior finish.
- Stringent quality controls:
Documented Quality Control (DQC) inspections occur
along the
production line, a "glass table" DQC inspection is done on all
finished
shutters, the whole shutter is assembled for QC before
packaging.
- Master Craftsmanship: Each
shutter is custom hand crafted based on a 30-year
tradition by the
world's largest manufacture of window coverings.
- Hand-selected premium basswood and
hardwoods: Tight grain results in long-term
stability and
durability. Uniform appearance with rich wood character in stains,
smooth
paint finishes.
- Innovative design:
Thought is
given to the tiniest details. A hidden, recessed screw in
the
shutter panel insures that the louvers never have to become loose
with age.
